Arkhangai is blessed with many different kinds of terrain - from desert ground in the south to extinct volcanoes in the northwest.  There are valleys, hills, and mountains in between.  Nearly every camp will say that hiking is available, but we recommend that you make your way to two specific areas for some of the best trekking.

First, Ugii Nuur - this region has flat rolling hills that all meet at the lake itself, but in the surrounding area you will find some of the best bird-watching available in Mongolia.

Second, Tariat and more specifically the extinct volcanoes surrounding the White Lake region.  There are caves and rock formations that any avid hiker will enjoy.  And there are well-worn horse paths for those that would prefer to stick to the trails.
